If you are seeking to purchase a home now or in the near future and need financing, it is important for you to get a pre-qualification from a lending institution. A pre-qualification will let you know how much you are eligible to borrow. Obtaining a pre-qualification is a fairly easy process and only requires you to do the following:

  1. Call the lending institution of your choice. Inform them that you are planning to purchase a home and you would like to know how much you can afford.

  2. Equip yourself with the following information as you will eventually need to provide proof of your financial status upon the bank’s request:
    a. 3 most current consecutive paystubs
    b. Previous Year’s tax return
    c. Total of current debt payments (which includes minimum payment required on credit cards, student loan payments, and any other debt payments)
